Affordable Health Insurance in Illinois — Without the Guesswork
Finding health insurance outside of an employer plan can feel overwhelming. I work with individuals and families across northern Illinois to find ACA marketplace plans that fit their income, their health needs, and their budget — and I do it in English and Spanish, at no cost to you.
We still believe that transparency is non-negotiable.
We still take the time to explain policies in everyday language.
And we still measure success by the trust and confidence our clients feel after every conversation.
How I Help You Find the Right Plan
I'm an independent broker licensed in Illinois, which means I represent multiple carriers and compare options across the marketplace on your behalf. I don't push one company's plans — I find what works for you.
Here's what working with me looks like:
- Income review: We look at your household income to determine subsidy eligibility and estimate your actual monthly cost after financial assistance.
- Plan comparison: I compare available ACA plans side by side — premiums, deductibles, copays, and provider networks — so you understand what you're choosing.
- Enrollment support: I walk you through the application and enrollment process from start to finish, including through Get Covered Illinois.
- Bilingual service: If you or a family member is more comfortable in Spanish, I conduct the entire conversation in Spanish.
- Ongoing support: Coverage questions don't stop after enrollment. I'm available year-round when something changes — income, family size, or plan performance.
Video Home Inventories: Document your belongings securely to simplify claims if the unexpected happens.
Side-by-Side Coverage Comparisons: See exactly how different policies stack up, so you can choose with confidence.
Transparent Quoting Process: No pressure, no confusion—just clear, educational conversations that put you in control.
Get Covered Illinois: Illinois's Health Insurance Marketplace
Get Covered Illinois is the state's official ACA marketplace, and it's where most Illinois residents shop for individual and family health coverage. Plans are available at multiple coverage tiers — Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum — with varying premium and out-of-pocket structures depending on how much coverage you want and what you can afford.
Enrollment is open during the annual Open Enrollment Period each fall, but certain life events — losing a job, getting married, having a child, or moving — can trigger a Special Enrollment Period that allows you to enroll or change plans outside that window.
I help clients navigate Get Covered Illinois year-round, not just during open enrollment.
Income-Based Subsidies: What You May Be Eligible For
Federal subsidies under the ACA are available to households whose income falls between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level — and in some cases, above that threshold depending on current legislation. These subsidies come in two forms:
- Premium Tax Credits: Reduce your monthly insurance premium directly, making coverage more affordable from the first payment.
- Cost-Sharing Reductions: Available on Silver-tier plans for qualifying income levels, these lower your deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket maximums.
Understanding which subsidies you qualify for — and how to structure your plan to maximize them — is one of the most valuable things I do for clients. Many people leave money on the table simply because they didn't know what to ask for.

Who I Work With
My ACA clients span a wide range of situations. Some are self-employed and have never had a marketplace plan before. Others lost employer coverage and need something in place quickly. Many are members of Rockford's Hispanic community who want to work with an agent who speaks their language and understands their circumstances.
I serve clients across Winnebago, Kane, DeKalb, and Cook counties — including Rockford, Elgin, DeKalb, Carpentersville, and Schaumburg. If you're in northern Illinois and need individual or family health coverage, I can help.
Frequently Asked Questions About ACA Health Insurance in Illinois
What is the difference between ACA health insurance and Medicaid?
ACA marketplace plans are private insurance plans purchased through Get Covered Illinois, often with financial assistance based on income. Medicaid is a government-funded program for individuals and families below a certain income threshold. If your income is too low to qualify for ACA subsidies, you may be directed toward Medicaid or Illinois's All Kids program instead. I can help you figure out which program applies to your situation.
Can I enroll in an ACA plan outside of Open Enrollment?
Yes, if you experience a qualifying life event. Losing job-based coverage, moving to a new state, getting married, having a child, or losing eligibility for another program can each trigger a Special Enrollment Period. You typically have 60 days from the event to enroll.
How much does it cost to work with you?
Nothing. My services are free to you as the consumer. I'm compensated by the insurance carriers, which means you get personalized guidance through the marketplace at no additional cost.
Do you help Spanish-speaking clients with ACA enrollment?
Yes. I conduct appointments fully in Spanish for clients who prefer it. A significant portion of my clients are members of the Hispanic community in Rockford and surrounding areas, and bilingual service is something I've offered since I opened my agency.
What if my income changes during the year?
You should report income changes to the marketplace as they happen. A significant increase or decrease can affect your subsidy amount, and adjusting mid-year can prevent a surprise at tax time. I help clients understand how to handle these updates and what they mean for their coverage.
Is ACA insurance available if I'm turning 65 and moving to Medicare?
An ACA marketplace plan can provide coverage until your Medicare begins, but you'll want to coordinate the timing carefully to avoid a gap or an overlap. I can help you plan the transition — and since I also specialize in Medicare, I can guide you through both sides of the move.
